Down to Three Finalists

TAGS: , ,

Talk about a tough decision! We’ve spent the last few weeks reviewing the FORGE Your Dot Org 2011 applications. The more we research the different nonprofits’ causes and what they’re doing about it, the more we want to pick everybody. While we don’t have enough time, resources, or deep enough pockets to do that, we do have the ability to at least mention some of the very worthy causes here. In the weeks to come, we’ll do profiles of a few of the nonprofits that really captured our attention:

  • The Fraternal Order of Police Foundation
  • Cleveland City Dance Company
  • Energize Clinton County
  • Breakthrough Charter Schools

And now for the three finalists:

  • Youth Advocate Services
  • Legal Aid Society
  • American Council of the Blind of Ohio

We have met with all three nonprofits this week, and we’ll be announcing the finalist next week. So stay posted to see who the FYDO 2011 recipient will be.

Homefull Website: Alive and Well

TAGS: ,

This was a biggie––the website really was the culmination of our partnership with Homefull, this year. It underwent a drastic redesign to match their new identity. The writing was also updated to reflect a friendlier, more approachable voice. And we seriously considered what was pertinent enough to be on the homepage.

Furthermore, the website is now e-commerce ready so when Homefull is ready they can start selling products with their new brandmark. Most important, the site makes it much easier to accept donations online.

Enough talking about it. Go see for yourself: www.homefull.org.

FORGE Your Application

Applications are now open for FORGE Your Dot Org 2011. We’ll give you an idea of what the application is like: there are 6 sections and roughly 40 questions. We know that’s a lot, but we take our selection process very seriously and all of those questions play a part in that process. So make sure you save as you go along––in case you get interrupted. When you save, we’ll send you an email with a link for you to pick up where you left off.

The applications are due by December 1st at close of business (5:00), so fill yours out as soon as you can!

FYDO 2011 Kickoff

TAGS: ,

In 2009, we launched our first ever FORGE Your Dot Org campaign (affectionately referred to as FYDO around FORGE headquarters). We were overwhelmed by the responses we received and, after choosing to work with Homefull (formerly The Other Place) in 2010, we have realized that FYDO is a must for 2011.

As discussed in this blog, we’ve had a successful year with Homefull and have been touched by their team of people dedicated to their mission of ending homelessness. So, we are thrilled to announce that we will accept applications for FYDO 2011 beginning November 1st, 2010. It’s our way of giving back to a vibrant Ohio, because, we don’t just love working here––we love living here too!

With a Website on the Way

TAGS: ,

Designs are being made for website pages and content is being gathered. The Homefull website is well on its way. We are completing a content audit and deciding what sections need to be clarified along with what sections aren’t pertinent anymore and could be omitted to keep the website current and relevant.

That being said, we are also trying to figure out the best homes for the text. We’re aware that sometimes there are portions of text that get tossed under a random heading because there’s confusion as to where it truly belongs. Only a very close look with a focus on where text would intuitively be categorized will create a website where readers can find just what they want, just where they expect it.

Here’s a sneak peek at some screenshots of page designs.

Agency Brochure

TAGS: , ,

When there’s a name change, absolutely everything has to change. Even those little pieces of literature that your company may not pay much mind to: business cards, white papers, sales flyers, brochures, everything!

The Other Place had an agency brochure that they passed out to people inquiring about their services. Now that they made their switch to Homefull, they needed a new brochure. We thought it would be a good time to revisit the entire brochure––graphics, copy, layout, and all.

Placeholders Matter

Homefull Placeholder Page

Homefull’s placeholder page is so pretty, we think it could stand alone. We’re still going to complete the full site, though.

A warm and inviting picture forms the backdrop for the site, furthering Homefull’s theme of bright futures and also keeping with the introduction of their new name. Copywriting is kept concise, as to not confuse the situation of a name change.

Annual Report

TAGS: , ,

Developing the annual report was the biggest project we’ve completed for Homefull, so far. We know annual reports are an important representation of a company, so we didn’t take the assignment lightly.

Annual reports are a weighty touchpoint because they communicate a company’s accomplishments and statistics for an entire year. They also serve as a way of making current contributors feel their time and money has been put to good use, and to maybe even gain new contributors.

Since we strongly believe in the work Homefull is doing for the Dayton area, we wanted to craft a very informative and attractive annual report. Many processes were involved: interviews, research, verification, edits, arranging, rearranging, and more edits. But now we can confidently say it’s just right––and just the way Homefull wanted it.

Take a look at a couple of the pages and see what you think.
